The Joy of knowing TJ.
At The Arc of Camden County, there are certain people who have a way of making every room feel brighter — and T.J. is certainly one of them.
Known throughout the Occupational Training Center for his positive attitude and welcoming smile, T.J. has always been a ray of sunshine at the OTC. Whether he is greeting staff, encouraging others, or hard at work in the kitchen, his kindness and upbeat personality leave a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Recently, the kitchen at the OTC underwent an exciting transformation, bringing new equipment, new opportunities, and a much busier environment. While changes like these can sometimes feel overwhelming, T.J. never missed a beat. He immediately stepped in to help wherever he could, adapting to the fast-paced environment with confidence and enthusiasm.
Over the past few months, T.J. has taken on several new responsibilities in the kitchen and continues to impress both staff and peers with his dedication and willingness to learn. After being trained on how to use the flat top grill, T.J. has been busy cooking fried rice, grilling chicken, preparing hamburgers, and chopping rib eye cheesesteaks. His growth in the kitchen has been exciting to watch, and his hard work is clearly paying off.
T.J.’s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Tara, has witnessed this growth firsthand over the years. Tara shared:
“I have been working with T.J. for 7+ years at the OTC as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. He has always enjoyed his position in food service. Over the past few months, I have seen a big difference in him. He has been so excited to learn new tasks in the kitchen. He is learning how to cook on our grill and prepare foods he has never cooked before. He is also helping new staff in the kitchen. I am so proud of T.J. and all of his accomplishments at the OTC. I can’t wait to see all the new things he learns in the kitchen!”
T.J.’s story is a wonderful example of what can happen when individuals are given opportunities to grow, learn, and shine in supportive environments. His dedication, positivity, and willingness to take on new challenges continue to inspire everyone around him.
We are incredibly proud of T.J. and look forward to watching him continue to grow and succeed in the kitchen and beyond.
